Liposuction and lipoplasty are used to call same procedure that the fat deposits are aspirated as using a cannula inserted through the little skin hole. Lipofilling and lipoinjection used to call fat injection. Liposhaping and liposculpture used to call lipoinjection combined with liposuction in order to reshape the fat tissue. Such procedures are not a weight loss technique and are not a cure for overall obesity. These procedures are useful for recontouring the body as aspirating the fat deposits. It is, however, a great way to get rid of those bulges that you cannot seem to get rid of any other way.
Because a portion of the fat cells are permanently removed by liposuction, so you will not tend to regain weight in that area. However liposuction does not guarantee that you will not gain weight or fat deposits in other areas of your body. Liposuction can be done anywhere on the body where the fat deposits formed. It is usually done for cheeks, jowls, neck, back side of the upper arms, chest, back, waist, abdomen, buttocks, thighs and knees.
Surgery is done in a hospital and usually under general anesthesia. At the beginning of the surgery, a saline solution containing a local anesthetic and adrenaline is injected into the area to be aspirated, which makes the fat deposits easier to break up and extract. This extra fluid also minimizes trauma to the surrounding tissue, reducing swelling and post-operative pain. The administration of adrenaline also decreases bleeding during surgery, further reducing risks. During the procedure, the surgeon makes a tiny cut on the skin, typically on the hidden region of the body covered by underwears or on the skin creases and inserts a thin tube called a cannula into the fatty area. The cannula is used to break up the fat deposits and sculpt the area to the desired proportions. The unwanted fat is suctioned out with a powerful vacuum, leaving the skin, muscles, nerves and blood vessels intact. 3-5 mm long skin cuts closed by a couple of stitches and remaining inconspicuous scars disappear within a few months.
Possible slight pain can easily be controlled by medication. You can stand up and walk with help of somebody a few hours after surgery. You are allowed to leave hospital the same or the next day. The pain is not felt during rest; it is felt with body movement or any pressure on the skin. You may walk and do light activities by yourself 2 days after surgery and you should be able to return to work within a few days if your work is fairly sedentary. To speed the healing process and to reduce the likelihood of post-operative complications, you should begin light activity as soon as possible. You should avoid strenuous activities for a few weeks as your body heals, but within 4-6 weeks you should be able to resume all normal activities.
You may experience some swelling, bruising, fullness, tightness and itching which are all natural results of the liposuction. Swelling may cause you to feel like fat deposit was not removed. Most of the swelling subsides within 3 weeks and actual contours of your body begin to appear.
As swelling subsides, when you contact, you may feel your skin stiffer than normal on the suctioned area as a result of wound healing process. Bruising may last 3 weeks as reducing each day. You should wear a tight compression garment for up to 4 weeks after surgery. This specially designed garment will help to reduce pain and swelling, and help your body to settle into its new shape. You should see the visible results of your surgery within 2-3 weeks, but the full effects and actual body shape with totally subsided swelling may not be evident for 3 months.
Although liposuction cannot alter skin quality or muscle tone and should not be a substitute for regular exercise and a balanced diet, your body will always be slimmer than they would be if you had not had this procedure. Most people are pleased with their new contour and often feel a boost in energy and self-confidence.
In our clinic, liposuction is performed with superwet technique which is safe and bloodless technique, in order to avoid surface irregularities.
